Big Bear Lake, CA, August 13, 2012, noon – Liz Harris will not run for reelection on the Big Bear Lake City Council, and that means the candidate filing deadline has been extended by five days. Liz Harris was elected to the Big Bear Lake City Council in 2000, and she served as mayor in 2003, 2004 and 2010. The deadline for filing nomination papers for two open City Council seats is Wednesday, August 15, at 5pm. All paperwork must be filed at the City Clerk’s office by that time, in order to be on the ballot for the November 6 election. Mayor Bill Jahn, Helen Walsh and Bob Jackowski have already filed nomination papers and they’re qualified for the November ballot. The required paperwork for candidates must be submitted by 5pm on Wednesday at the City Clerk’s office in Big Bear Lake.
