Big Bear Lake, CA, August 8, 2012, noon – The California Public Utilities Commission is seeking public comments from customers that receive electric service from Bear Valley Electric, regarding an application for a proposed increase in rates for service. The application was filed on February 16, 2012 requesting authorization to increase overall revenue by 9.85%, which results in a proposed rate increase of 7.79%. The increased rates would become effective in 2013. The City of Big Bear Lake and the Big Bear Area Regional Wastewater Agency have filed a petition on behalf of citizens and customers, to oppose Bear Valley Electric’s proposed 7.79% increase in rates. On Monday, August 13 two Public Participation Hearings are scheduled and you can share your opinion regarding the proposed increase. The Public Hearings will take place at 2 and 7pm at Northwoods Resort in Big Bear Lake.
