Big Bear, Ca, May 30, 2011, 1:00pm – The Big Bear Sheriff’s Station, in conjunction with California Highway Patrol, Big Bear City Fire, Big Bear Lake Fire, and Fawnskin Fire, will be conducting the Every 15 Minutes program at Big Bear High School this week. The Every 15 Minutes program is conducted for teenagers at high schools around the world, highlighting the fact that every 15 minutes someone dies as the result of an alcohol related collision. The program’s keystone is a crash scenario, which depicts an accident caused by drunk driving, and will take place this Wednesday, June 1, beginning at 9:58 a.m. and lasting 45 minutes to 1 hour. Maple Lane will be closed from Big Bear Blvd. to Baldwin Lane beginning at 8:00 a.m. with the road expected to re-open at 12:00 p.m. The crash scenario is not open to the public, as there would be issues with parking and seating, and the program is specifically targeted to the high school students.
