Big Bear Lake, CA, November 9th, 2015 – The First Annual Big Bear Utilities Food Drive Challenge will bring meals to families in need this holiday season. Big Bear utility companies are challenging each other to see who can raise the most food donations for the St. Joseph Food Pantry to help feed local families this holiday season. Participating utility company’s include Bear Valley Electric Service, Big Bear Lake Department of Water, Big Bear City Community Services District and Charter Communications.
The utilities will be collecting non-perishable or canned food items through Friday, Nov. 20th. The winner of the utility challenge will be announced that same day at a Ping Pong Chili Challenge hosted by the utilities from 4 P.M. to 7 P.M. at St. Joseph Church located at 42242 N. Shore Drive. The public is welcome to attend the event, sample the homemade chili, and watch the ping pong challenge between the utilities. Admission costs just five cans of food.
Some utilities are also offering incentives for customers who donate to the challenge. BVES will be giving away free mini-LED flashlights to each customer who brings a non-perishable or canned food item at their main office on Garstin Drive in Big Bear Lake. The Big Bear Lake Department of Water will provide donating customers with a packet of drought tolerant and native plant seeds at their main office also located on Garstin Drive.
