Big Bear, CA, May 11, 2016 – Every year, Assembly Members select a veteran in their District to be recognized as the Veteran of the Year. Assemblymember Jay Obernolte invites residents to nominate a veteran who has gone above and beyond to serve our country, defend our freedom, and help better our community. The Veteran of the Year will be honored in Sacramento with a ceremony and luncheon on Wednesday, June 29, 2016.
Please submit nominations detailing why you think a local veteran should be nominated. Your submission should include information about the veteran’s military history, examples of the veteran’s service to the community, and any other reasons why the veteran should be nominated.
The nominee cannot be a previous recipient and must be an active or retired veteran of the Armed Forces of the United States, including Reserve or National Guard, or the United States Merchant Marine. Also, the nominee must live in the 33rd Assembly District, which includes Big Bear Valley.
