Angelus Oaks, CA May 18, 2014 – Firefighters from the U.S. Forest Service and CALFIRE knocked out a fire at Poopout Hill near Jenks Lake this morning, before gust winds could fan the flames into a more threatening situation.
First reported at about 4:30 a.m. Sunday near Barton Flats, the fire had been slowly growing overnight. Multiple units responded by air and on the ground, getting a wet line around the fire by the time it had burned an acre. The spread was checked by the 7:00 hour.
Residents and visitors are reminded to take extra care with anything that could cause a spark–metal equipment, cigarette butts–while a Wind Advisory is in effect. Gusty winds are expected at least through early Wednesday.
