The Board of Trustees of the Bear Valley Unified School District meet for two meetings today, the first of which is an 11:30am Board Workshop meeting, during which Dr. David Long will review governance protocols. The morning workshop takes place at the school district offices on Moonridge Road. The second Board meeting, to take place at 5pm at the Big Bear High School Media Center, at 351 Maple Lane in Sugarloaf, will include the Budget Advisory Committee’s recommendations for budget cuts in fiscal year 2009-2010. The committee’s recommendations are the result of three Budget Advisory Committee meetings, held in recent weeks, during which time parents and community members were given opportunity to provide input on how best to eliminate $673,000 from the district’s roughly $23.5 million annual budget. Update: Both of these meetings have been canceled, due to snow and road conditions. Agenda items for the evening meeting will be addressed at the Board of Trustees’ February 23 meeting; the agenda will be posted on Friday.
