Big Bear, Ca, November 2, 2011, 3:00pm – Home Instead Senior Care is once again inviting the community to “Be a Santa to a Senior” this holiday season. The Home Instead Senior Care office serving Big Bear Lake has joined Mountain Meadows Senior Community, Meals on Wheels, the Big Bear Valley Senior Center, the Big Bear Community Hospital, and many other organizations to provide presents to seniors who otherwise might not receive a gift this holiday season. “Many older adults continue to struggle in a down economy, particularly those who live alone with no family nearby to help provide resources,” said Brandi Johnson, Owner of Home Instead Senior Care Big Bear Office. Christmas trees have been put up at the Walgreen’s located at 42107 Big Bear Blvd, which feature ornaments with the first names of Seniors in the area and their respective gift requests. Holiday shoppers can pick up an ornament, buy items on the list, and return them unwrapped to Walgreens, along with the ornament attached. “We hope holiday shoppers will open their hearts to those seniors who have given to much to make our community a better place,” said Johnson. Be a Santa to a Senior starts November 3rd, and collections will be taken through December 12th. Volunteers will collect, wrap and deliver the gifts to area seniors.
