Big Bear, Ca, November 26, 2010, 12:00pm – Be a Santa to a Senior this holiday season. The Home Instead Senior Care office serving Big Bear Lake has joined Mountain Meadows Senior Community, Meals on Wheels, the Big Bear Valley Senior Center, the Alaska USA Federal Credit Union and many other organizations to provide presents to seniors who otherwise might not receive a gift this holiday season. “Most people aren’t aware that there are literally hundreds, if not thousands, of seniors in every community who have no family and are alone,” said Brandi Johnson, Owner of Home Instead Senior Care Big Bear Office. “What’s more, this holiday season finds many older adults struggling to make ends meet.” Christmas trees have been put up in the Alaska USA Federal Credit Union, formerly Arrowhead Credit Union, in the Stater Bros Shopping Center, which feature ornaments with the first names of Seniors in the area and their respective gift requests. Holiday shoppers can pick up an ornament, buy items on the list, and return them unwrapped to the bank, along with the ornament attached. Volunteers will collect, wrap and deliver the gifts to area seniors. For more information about the program, call Nancy at (909) 866-1850.
