“One-Stop Shop” for Social Services Will Be Available at LSS Offices in Summit Plaza As of Monday, April 27

Last week, Lutheran Social Services received the good news from County Supervisors that Big Bear’s Mental Health Alliance would be funded an additional $1.4 million in federal funds (nearly doubling their budget for the coming two years) and, this week, they have more good news. As of Monday, April 27, the much-anticipated “one-stop shop” for social services will be open to Valley clients at the offices of Lutheran Social Services, at 41945 Big Bear Boulevard in the Summit Plaza. At the one-stop shop, residents will be able to pick up applications and schedule appointments for Transitional Aid Department services, including food stamps, cash aid and MediCal/Healthy Families. Though the federal Women, Infants and Children feeding program has not been established at Lutheran Social Services’ one-stop shop, the Children and Family Services Department (formerly known as CPS or DCS) will have staff in Big Bear one day a week. For families in need of aid and services, the Lutheran Social Services offices are open Monday through Thursday, from 8am to 6pm (though closed in the 1 o’clock hour for lunch).
