The Board of Directors of the Big Bear Municipal Water District meet for their regular, third-Thursday-of-the-month meeting this afternoon at 1pm, at their offices at 40524 Lakeview Drive in Big Bear Lake. Today’s meeting includes potential approval of a proposal from Aquatechnex, to identify milfoil infestation in Big Bear Lake. The cost of this survey work, which will first be done using aerial photography, will be divided evenly between the MWD’s lake and dock weed control program budgets. The MWD Board will also consider contract approval for additional bathymetry and land surface surveying, as it corresponds to the Big Bear marina dredge project.
In other lake-related news, the Municipal Water District has scheduled another Adopt-A-Shoreline kick off day, during which volunteers are invited to help clean the shoreline. Groups and individuals who want to contribute should show up to the MWD building at 9am on Saturday, May 9. Volunteers will be assigned an area and given a T-shirt, gloves, trash pickers and a hat (while supplies last). Throughout the summer, volunteers will be asked to clean their shoreline area and leave the bags, which will be picked up by MWD staff.
Update: Each of the aforementioned agenda items was approved during the April 16 meeting.
