Loma Linda, CA, August 1, 2012, 3:00pm – Loma Linda University Medical Center Regional Perinatal Program has been awarded a $600,000 grant by First 5 San Bernardino to help pregnant women avoid or quit tobacco use. The Comprehensive Tobacco Treatment Program at Loma Linda University Medical Center and Children’s Hospital will screen pregnant women for tobacco use and help those who are smoking enter treatment to stop. The program is open to all residents of San Bernardino County and will be available in Fontana, Loma Linda, Rialto, San Bernardino, Victorville, Yucca Valley, and Twentynine Palms. The grant from First 5 San Bernardino supports First 5’s priority of early screenings and intervention, with a specific focus on helping mothers to stop smoking. Women who participate in the program will receive services, including screening, assessment, education, care coordination, and follow-up. For more information about the program call 558-3264.
