Big Bear’s young scientists were recognized for their efforts in science fairs held at Big Bear Elementary and North Shore Elementary Schools this week. Logan Huefner, a fifth grade student at North Shore, earned top honors among all other li’l Eagles in the round school’s science fair. At Big Bear Elementary, a number of Bobcats were recognized in the school-wide fair. Those who received honorable mentions were kindergartner Kevin DeGree, and 2nd and 3rd grade students Telly Akcinar, Sheyne Elrod, Charisma Washburn, Zack Gonzalez, Alyssa Joha, Carissa Wolcott, Tyler Beede and Patrick DeGree, and 4th, 5th and 6th graders Conner Pellegrini, Erik Jaimez, Evan Weissman, Ariana Garvey, Bailey Joha, Kelsey Tennis, Madison Waner, Elysse Lopez and Karla Araujo. Top science fair projects at Big Bear Elementary were those of two sixth grade students; Tayler Waner placed second overall, and first place went to Elizabeth Herrick. Baldwin Lane Elementary School will hold their science fair in April or May, as their Read-a-Thon is this week.
