Local Fire Departments Transition to New Dispatch Provider This Week

As of this week, the Big Bear City and Big Bear Lake Fire Departments are switching dispatch centers. As, effective July 1, Desert Communications in Victorville is closing its doors, both of our local fire departments are converting to dispatch through ConFire Joint Powers Authority, which already serves San Bernardino County Fire’s station #49 in Fawnskin. Our local fire agencies have been working closely with ConFire in Rialto to facilitate a smooth transition though, over the next few days, residents may hear siren alerts or strange testing tones on scanners. Still, per the Big Bear City Fire Department, the conversion is expected to be seamless with no interruption in emergency dispatch services.
