Big Bear, Ca, September 29, 2010, 8:00am – In an effort to better educate communities throughout the U.S. about smoke alarm recommendations, the nonprofit National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) is promoting “Smoke Alarms: A Sound You Can Live With!” as the theme for this year’s Fire Prevention Week campaign, October 3-9, which the Big Bear Valley Fire Agencies is supporting locally. The Big Bear Valley Fire agencies will be hosting an Open House at each fire station on Saturday, October 9, 2010. Residents are encouraged to visit each fire station. With the generous donation of the Big Bear Lion’s Club, food will be provided at no cost to those in attendance. Big Bear City Fire Department will have its open house from 9:00am to noon and will have a Healthy Choice breakfast, Fire Explorer demonstrations, and opportunity for the kids to squirt water from the fire truck. The Big Bear Lake Fire Department will host its open house from 11:00am- 2:00pm and will have hot dogs and chips, station tours, fire engines and equipment display, and a defensible space display with information. And from 1pm-4pm the Fawnskin Fire Department will have an ice cream social, station tours and a display of the Fire Engines and Equipment.
