Fire Chief’s Authorized To Submit Proposal For Department Merge

Big Bear, Ca, February 23, 2011, 12:00pm – The Big Bear City Community Services District, and the Big Bear Lake Fire Protection District have authorized Chief Jeff Willis, Chief Rod Ballard, and Assistant Chief Mark Mills to collaborate and create a request for proposal that could possibly merge Big Bear City Fire and Big Bear Lake Fire Departments. The Chiefs have 60 days to complete the proposal and present it to the Fire Protection District and CSD for consideration. The Fire Protection District will also be receiving proposals from San Bernardino County Fire, and CalFire to contract with the Big Bear Lake Fire Department and oversee operations.
