Big Bear, CA, December 26, 2014 – In the spirit of giving, two Big Bear Valley business owners have chosen a unique way of helping young people. Garry Dokter and David Stone are donating their hair to Locks of Love. On New Years Eve, both men will cut and donate their, now lengthy, hair at Elevations Day Spa.
Locks of Love is a public non-profit organization that provides hairpieces to financially disadvantaged children in the United States and Canada under age 21 who are suffering from long-term medical hair loss from any diagnosis. Locks of Love meets a unique need for children by using donated hair to create the highest quality hair prosthetics, helping to restore the children’s self-esteem and confidence.
Stone and Dokter encourage anyone willing to grow, pledge and cut their hair for Locks of Love to join them on New Years Eve. It takes anywhere from 6 to 10 ponytails to make each individual hairpiece! Hair donors can be either adult or child, male or female. As well as donating your hair you can sponsor a Locks of Love Child or donate ‘in the memory of’ someone. You may want to ‘go shorter’ for a good cause. Haircuts are free of charge if you donate your locks to Locks of Love. For more information or to schedule your haircut, call Rhonda at Elevations Day Spa. Telephone 909-866-7405.
