Big Bear, Ca April 13, 2011 8:00 am – During the month of April, the Big Bear Curves Fitness Center is collecting non-perishable food and cash donations to support local food banks. The women’s gym located in the K-Mart Shopping Center collected nearly 1,000 pounds of food during their last annual food drive. Vicki Johnston, owner of the Big Bear franchise, says she first joined Curves during the food collection. The fitness center waives the enrollment fee for new members who join in April if they bring in a donation of at least $25 worth of food. The Curves unique 30 minute aerobic and strength training program for women is great for everyone, says Johnston. The Big Bear gym includes members from ages 19 to 84. Donations of food can be accepted during the month of April, any time the fitness center is open, between 7:00 am to 1:00 pm and 3:00 to 7:00 pm, Mondays through Fridays, and 8:30 am to 12:30 pm on Saturdays. All food and cash collected will be donated directly to food pantries in the Big Bear Valley.
