Big Bear, Ca, March 9, 2011, 4:00pm – Could you be the strongest link in the event of a heart attack? Those who can identify the early signs of a heart attack and then know how to respond are saving thousands of lives every year. CPR within the first five minutes of a heart attack greatly enhances a persons chance of survival. The Big Bear Lake Fire Department will be conducting its next Heartsaver CPR/AED class on Saturday, March 12. Firefighter/paramedics will teach attendees how to perform one-rescuer adult, child, and infant CPR as well as the basics of the automatic external defibrillator (AED). The March 12 class will be from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Big Bear Lake Fire Department, 41090 Big Bear Boulevard, Big Bear Lake. Class size is limited so reserve your seat with a $40 per person fee, which must be paid prior to the class. Attendees will receive American Heart Association reference materials and a two-year CPR/AED certification card. For more information, telephone the Big Bear Lake Fire Department at 866-7566.
