The Big Bear Valley will be getting a new zipline course, as the permit applied for by Action Zipline Tours was approved by the San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors in their meeting yesterday. On July 2, the County’s Planning Commission had approved the permit for Action Zipline Tours, which will establish a zipline course on a 2.5-acre portion of 45 acres in the Onyx Summit area, off Rainbow Lane on the west side of Highway 38. On July 9, neighboring property owners had filed an appeal with the County, requesting that the Planning Commission’s decision be reversed. However, the Board of Supervisors unanimously upheld the Commission’s decision to grant the conditional use permit, which will allow for Action Zipline Tours to establish a zipline course with 14 pads, 2,650 linear feet of cable line and a hiking trail. To off-set neighbors’ traffic concerns, the zipline company will shuttle guests to the Onyx Summit site from their storefront, located on Big Bear Boulevard in the City of Big Bear Lake.
