County Supervisors Approve Sugarloaf Roads Project, and Local Commission Appointments for Bob Ybarra and Tom Brandau

Sugarloaf roads are going to get an upgrade, given the approval from the San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors this week. The road slurry seal project, estimated to cost $435,000, will cover the entire 23 miles of roads in Sugarloaf, though there is no estimated date of implementation as requests for bids were just approved on May 5. In a statement from Supervisor Neil Derry, he says, “Instead of neglecting our roads, we need to maintain them to keep our costs down. I am committed to providing services to our residents as efficiently and effectively as possible.” In other news regarding Sugarloaf roads, County Supervisors also approved the appointment of Sugarloaf resident Bob Ybarra to the CSA 70 Commission, which oversees roads in the area. Ybarra assumes the term vacated by Jerry Lemke (who had also served as Supervisor Derry’s field representative earlier this year); Ybarra joins Bruce Black, Walter Eggett, Marge McDonald and Paul Terry on the commission on a term that extends through January 2013. County Supervisors also unanimously approved the appointment of Tom Brandau, a 10-year Fawnskin resident, to serve on both the CSA 53B Commission for Fawnskin and to assume the seat vacated by Don Eads on the Big Bear Area Regional Wastewater Agency’s Governing Board.
