Big Bear Lake, CA – Last Friday, the Board of Trustees of the Bear Valley Unified School District held a Special Board meeting to discuss a parcel tax contract agreement. The Board recommended and approved to hire TBWB Strategies, a political consulting firm, to facilitate a parcel tax on the ballot. The Board approved $71,500 from the general fund to get the proposal moving forward. This amount is the total estimated cost to the firm. The District Office has done extensive research in locating TBWB Strategies and have indicated that it is standard procedure for school districts to hire such a firm. The purpose of using a consulting firm is to determine the overall feasibility of a parcel tax, how much the tax should be and to provide outreach to the community.
