Big Bear Lake, CA, September 11, 2013 — Southern California’s #1 rated Oktoberfest returns to the Big Bear Lake Convention Center with American’s Hero weekend. On Saturday, September 14 free admission will be offered to all past and present military and their immediate families, as well as firefighters and law enforcement. Opening festivities include a special tribute to all those that put their lives on the line. The festival closes on Saturday, October 26 with the annual costume contests for both adults and children.
The expanded Spaten Bier Garten will offer live entertainment every Saturday night, more seating, and a full line-up of Spaten beer. Bands include local bands, top California bands including German band The Express, as well as the NEW Mainfloesser Band from Germany. The NEW Mainfloesser performed at the Big Bear Lake Oktoberfest in 2011 to a roaring success. A variety of dance groups will also make return appearances, including the Cripple Creek Cloggers, Danube Swabain Dancers and Big Bear’s own Polka Tots.
