Big Bear, Ca, August 11, 2011, 10:00am – The Holcomb Fire that started at 1:27pm on Tuesday August 9th has been contained, and fire crews remain on scene working on putting out a hospots in the 7 acre area that was affected. According to John Miller with the US Forest Service the older trees that were effected can hold alot of heat like a large log in the fire place would, so crews are expected to be working on getting control of the next few days. The helicopters and air tankers have been called off, and at night crews watch the fire, and return to working on it in the day light hours. Occasional smoke may be seen from the fire while crews work to extinguish hot spots.
