Bear Valley Electric’s CARE Program Offers 20% Discount to Low-Income Households; CARE Sign-Ups at Kmart Tomorrow

Low-income individuals and families who are full-time residents of the Big Bear Valley may be eligible for a 20% discount on electric service through the California Alternate Rates for Energy, or CARE, program. Qualifying households of 1 or 2 persons cannot exceed a gross annual income of $30,500 to be eligible for CARE, the benefits of which are covered by other utility customers. Tomorrow, Bear Valley Electric will be conducting CARE program sign-ups at Kmart, between 10am and 3pm. Those applying for the program should be prepared to show proper identification, and proof of income for all household members.
