Big Bear, Ca, April 28, 2011, 9:00am –At last night’s regular meeting of the Big Bear Area Waste Water Agency the resolution ratifying the work done for proposition 218 was passed in a 4 to 1 vote. This certifies the work done by BBARWA for the prop 218 requirements. The resolution that was approved, and was brought from a possibility of raising rates 6% to 4% over 5 years starting this coming fiscal year. After the resolution was passed, the BBARWA board moved into approving the connection fee increase, and stand by fees. The actual budget for fiscal year 2012 was approved, which included the 4% increase for the coming fiscal year, decreases in employee salary and benefits from 16 full time employees to 14, deferring some maintenance, using some undesignated funds to replace the lake pump station in Big Bear Lake with a cost of $2 million, most of which is being financed with cash on hand. The new rate increase coming from BBARWA will be put into effect July 1, 2011.
