A.J. Acosta Company Hired to Clear Arctic Circle of Avalanche Snow
A series of avalanches earlier today prompted the closure of Arctic Circle on Highway 18. Terri Kasinga of CalTrans tells KBHR, “We have a lot of avalanches in the Arctic Circle area, several of them 10 feet tall.” These snow slides had trapped several vehicles on the roadway this morning, though CalTrans reports that all had been attended to by 9am. Up to a Foot of Snow Prompts Chain Requirements for All Mountain Roads, Snow Slide on Arctic Circle
Given the snow over the weekend, which the resorts claim dumped up to a foot of fresh powder, the City of Big Bear Lake has called snow conditions into effect, so no parking on city streets to allow for snowplowing operations.
