Old Miner’s Association Announces Grand Marshal

Big Bear, CA, May 13, 2013 – The Old Miners Association, in partnership with the City of Big Bear Lake and San Bernardino County, will host the Big Bear Heritage Parade on June 15th, the Saturday of Fathers Day weekend.  They are pleased to announce that San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Deputy Alex Collins will be this year’s grand marshal in a special event themed “Big Bear Thanks You” in gratitude for the support of law enforcement, first responders and military who protected our mountain community during the incident of February 2013 involving Christopher Dorner.  Deputy Collins, a member of the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department since 2007 and a deputy with the Big Bear Station since 2008, sustained multiple gunshot wounds during the February 12 shootout with Dorner.   After multiple surgeries at Loma Linda University Medical Center, Captain Tom Bradford states, “Alex is on the road to recovery and we are looking forward to having him back at the Big Bear Station when he is ready.  The Sheriff’s Department thanks the Old Miners Days Association for their recognition of law enforcement efforts.”  The parade will begin at 4pm and will run along Big Bear Boulevard, from Summit Boulevard west to Georgia Street.  In addition to cheering Deputy Collins and all of our first responders along the parade route, the public is invited to salute them in a pre-parade reception, being held at the...

Old Miners Association Invites Participants For Parade With Grand Marshal John Grandi

Big Bear Lake, CA, June 20, 2012, 3:00pm – The 2012 Big Bear Grand Heritage Parade with Big Bear resident John Grandi as Grand Marshal will march down Big Bear Boulevard beginning at 3:30 pm on Saturday, July 21. The Parade begins a little to the east of Summit Boulevard and ends just past the middle school. The route less than a mile long and should last no more than an hour. According to Gloria Meade, Big Bear Old Miners Grand Heritage Parade chair, there is still time for anyone and everyone interested in being in the parade to be a part of the 2012 event. Old Miners’ Big Bear Heritage Parade Details

Big Bear, Ca, July 22, 2011, 3:00pm – The Old Miners’ Big Bear Heritage Parade will take place this Saturday in the Village of Big Bear Lake.  The well known that parade that was on a hiatus last year has returned and will have a new parade route.  The parade will start at Alden Rd, and Big Bear Blvd, will travel two blocks to Pine Knot Avenue, and will travel through the village to the Village Drive, down Bonanza Rd.  The Parade will start at 10:00am, so spectators are encouraged to find their viewing spot beforehand.  Some of the participating local organizations include the Big Bear Lake Antique Car Club, the Village Business Association, the Friends of the Moonridge Zoo, Odyssey of the Mind, the Rotary Club of Big Bear Lake and many more.  [audio:http://kbhr933.com/wp-content/uploads/SP30920.mp3|titles=OMA Parade...

Big Bear Lake City Council Supports Old Miners Parade

Big Bear Lake, CA, June 9, 2011, 3pm – In a unanimous show of support for reviving the Old Miners’ Big Bear Heritage Parade, on Monday, June 6, the Big Bear Lake City Council voted to sponsor the traditional community event, and again make it a showcase ingredient of Big Bear Valley’s full summer slate of activities. The Old Miners Day Parade received $10,000, plus in-kind services worth more than $5,000 from the City. President of the Old Miners Association, Dayan Anderson, said the Old Miners “are very encouraged by the City of Big Bear Lake’s decision to continue its long tradition of supporting the Old Miners’ Parade.”  Anderson said “in addition to the critical in-kind services they always have provided, the council’s generous pledge of funds will help the committee in its efforts to revive and repackage this important Bear Valley event, scheduled for Saturday, July 23rd.” Anderson also said two new community events to honor our military guests and their families have been added to this year’s Old Miners’ parade activities.  Elks Lodge 1787 will host a musical tribute to America’s forces and a reception on Friday, July 22.  Then, on the morning of the parade, there will be a Parade Pancake & Pastries Breakfast with a percentage of the proceeds donated to the National Military Family Association.
