World-Class Drivers at Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach

Long Beach, CA April, 15, 2015 – The Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach returns this weekend so it’s time to enjoy some turbocharged action.  Motor sports racing is one of America’s favorite spectator sports.   I don’t need to explain to passionate sports fans why that is.   Motorsports racing delivers the burning desire to win, professional race teams, young athletes and an undeniable element of adrenaline fed danger. The featured race is Sunday afternoon’s Verizon IndyCar Series event, which features an international field of world-class drivers expected to include: defending Series champion Will Power; three-time series champ Scott Dixon; Long Beach winners Takuma Sato, Ryan Hunter-Reay, Helio Castroneves and Sebastien Bourdais, along with Graham Rahal and Marco Andretti. Series will have cars with turbocharged engines and all-new aero kits supplied by Honda and Chevrolet “The Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach” has proven over 41 years, that a formula of blending top notch motorsports with an uptown seaside street festival is one longest running and single biggest sporting events in Southern California with over 175,000 paid spectators.  This race is a favorite among the racers as well for exactly the same reasons. Friday through Sunday April 17 – 19 the 1.97 mile street circuit will feature a pro/celebrity race, Formula Drift, TUDOR United Sports Car Championship, Indy Lights, Pirelli World Challenge, a wild off road race and the third...

KBHR Motor Sports Report

The KBHR motorsports report is up next …   fueled with passion .. driven on the edge.  20 years ago .. Senna .. the F1 racer will killed in Imola, Italy, in fact he was described as perhaps one of the best drivers of all time but that shocking weekend began with the death of Austrian rookie Ratzenberger as well.  All worth mentioning as Motorsports is one of the biggest spectator sports perhaps because the high risk and reward nature is fueled by passion for the automobile. This Sunday is the Greystone Concours at the Greystone Mansion in the hills above Beverly Hills.  For Jay Lenno and other car collecting stars it’s an A list event.  A beautiful estate setting, fine food and beverages included makes this one of best shows on the west coast. The newly formed IMSA Tudor United Sportscar Championship visits Laguna Seca this weekend, a track known for delivering the best road course action in the beautiful setting of Monterey in central California. Almost any race at that track is worth the journey. The high speed track of Talladega will host the NASCAR Sprint and nationwide series this weekend.  Talladega and Daytona have been described as the some of the most exciting of the season. Open Wheel racing has the weekend off as Formula one prepares for Spain and Indycar readys for the Indianapolis road course....

Grand Prix of Long Beach “Bucket Seats”

Long Beach, Ca April 9, 2014 – The best street race and road race festival of the year returns “The Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach”.  The Grand Prix of Long Beach is a special place where open wheel cars and Endurance sports cars battle it out on the narrow confines of the street track backdropped by the Shoreline Village Marina.  Formula one racing at famous dockside mediterranean country Monaco may be the height of racing bling but in my mind Long Beach doles out, in greater measure, “ The Grin Factor”.    You just can’t beat the best open wheel and sports car racing in America wrapped around a three day party.   The almost nonstop festivities begin on Friday April 11th and finished Sunday afternoon.  You can buy a ticket there or online for the weekend or any single day of your choice.   But the Sunday’s Indy Race presented by Verizon is a must see.  The cars are extremely fast and high speed risks are ever present, even for the worlds best at 160 miles per hour down Shoreline then around the famous Long Beach Aquarium Fountain.  Last year’s horrific crash at the Grand Prix of Houston ended the career of champion Dario Franchitti sadly demonstrates the ever present nanosecond dangers.  Famous teams and drivers including  Power, Rahal, Andretti, Bourdais, Kanaan, Castroneves and last years winner Sato put it...
