Pacific Crest Trail & Santa Ana River Trail Re-Open within the Lake Fire Closure

Big Bear, CA, July 23rd, 2016 – Forest Service officials have re-opened a portion of the San Bernardino National Forest closed in 2015 as a result of the 31,359 acre Lake Fire.  The areas reopened includes the Pacific Crest Trail, Santa Ana River Trail and the East Flats near Barton Flats. Trail crews rehabilitated the portion of the Pacific Crest Trail within the burned area, for foot traffic with the following conditions:   Hikers must possess a Pacific Crest Trail Long Distance Hiker Permit. GUARDRAIL PROJECT TO BEGIN ON STATE ROUTE 330

Big Bear, CA, July 18th, 2016 – The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) District 8 has awarded a $577,000 project to Danny Hubbs Construction, Inc. of Yucaipa to install Midwest Guardrail Systems in various locations on State Route 330 (SR-330) from 2.7 miles north of Highland Avenue to the State Route 330/18 Junction in Running Springs. The project is scheduled to begin Monday, August 1 and continue until mid-September 2016. The work hours are 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
