Big Bear, CA – The Amgen Tour of California event is an immense undertaking and your help is needed in order to have a successful and safe day of cycling racing. They need approximately 150 volunteers. The vast majority of volunteers will be used as Course Marshals for the event. Three Felony Arrests Following Home Invasion Robbery

Big Bear City, CA – Shortly after 11:30 a.m. yesterday, May 10, deputies of the Big Bear Sheriff’s Station responded to a report of a physical assault near the intersection of Mt. Doble Drive and Big Bear Blvd. Upon arrival, deputies found a male subject with injuries, including lacerations to his extremities, swollen eyes, and a bloody nose. Through investigation, it was discovered that three suspects entered the victim’s nearby residence in the 500 block of Irving Way in Big Bear City. One of the suspects assaulted the victim, stole his personal property, and all three fled the scene. Deputies conducted a check of the area and performed a traffic stop on three males in a vehicle matching the suspects’ descriptions on Big Bear Blvd. near the intersection of Georgia Street. The three males, identified as Trent Coursey, River Harp, and a 17-year-old juvenile were determined to be the suspects involved in the confrontation and robbery. All three suspects were taken into custody without incident. Following further investigation, Trent Coursey was booked into the Big Bear Jail on a felony charge of Home Invasion Robbery. Coursey remains in custody in lieu of $200,000 bail. River Harp was booked into the Big Bear Jail on a felony charge of Conspiracy, with bail set at $25,000. Human Remains Found on Cougar Crest Trail

Big Bear, CA – On Saturday, April 29, at approximately 6:42 p.m., hikers on Cougar Crest Trail located human skeletal remains a short distance off of the trail. Deputies from the Big Bear Sheriff’s Station responded and confirmed the remains were human. On Sunday, April 30, investigators from the Sheriff’s Specialized Investigations Homicide Detail and Coroner’s Division responded to the location and recovered the skeletal remains. The identity of the remains, and a cause of death are subject of an ongoing investigation. Arson Suspect Arrested Following Extensive Search

Crestline, CA – On Monday, May 1, at about 8:07 p.m., the California Highway Patrol and the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department received multiple 911 calls reporting a male attempting to start a fire on Highway 18 just below the Highway 138 cut off in the area of Crestline. Officers from both agencies responded to the scene along with Cal Fire and US Forestry Fire. Numerous additional 911 calls were received reporting the subject was armed with a firearm and carrying an ax. The subject also threw rocks at a vehicle on the highway. The subject ran down the highway, fled over the side, and headed down toward Lower Bonnie Canyon. The subject lit an additional fire in the dense brush of the canyon, below the highway. Highway 18 was closed and all traffic was evacuated due to the fire and armed subject. Multiple law enforcement agencies including San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Twin Peaks and Central Stations, California Highway Patrol, San Bernardino Police Department, Cal Fire Investigators, US Forest Service Officers, and K9s from both the Sheriff’s Department and Montclair Police responded. House and Brush Fire on North Shore

  UPDATE 10:00am – Five units from Big Bear Fire Department responded to the reported structure fire in the 200 block of North Shore Drive in Big Bear City . Upon arrival, fire crews observed the small two-story, single family residence well-involved in active fire. Fire attack started on the exterior of the house; crews took approximately 45 minutes to suppress the fire. One occupant of the home was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
