Pacific Crest Trail & Santa Ana River Trail Re-Open within the Lake Fire Closure

Big Bear, CA, July 23rd, 2016 – Forest Service officials have re-opened a portion of the San Bernardino National Forest closed in 2015 as a result of the 31,359 acre Lake Fire.  The areas reopened includes the Pacific Crest Trail, Santa Ana River Trail and the East Flats near Barton Flats. San Bernardino, CA, July 20 – To implement a settlement reached by plaintiffs and the U.S. Forest Service, a district court has vacated a 2014 ruling that affected the U.S. Forest Service’s ability to enforce recreation fees at standard amenity recreation fee sites in the Los Padres, Angeles, San Bernardino and Cleveland National Forests in southern California. On May 19, 2016, the district court granted a joint motion by the plaintiffs and the U.S. Forest Service to accept the settlement agreement, which resulted in the 2014 judgment being vacated. Big Bear Lake, CA, July 6, 2016 – Victoria Park Carriages, a horse-drawn carriage operation owned and operated by Mr. Michael Homan, had been requesting a Horse-Drawn Vehicle Permit to place a horse-drawn vehicle stand in the public right-of-way on the north side of Pedder Road, adjacent to the Teddy Bear Restaurant parking lot.
