Blues for the Zoo

Tour de Big Bear

The Tour de Big Bear is a cycling event where road cyclists can ride a 25, 50, 75 or 100 mile ride through the Big Bear Valley.  There will be aid stations, an expo, and some amazing views.   Go to www.tourdebigbear.com for more information, and to register.

Amgen Tour of California: Stage 6- Palmdale to Big Bear Lake

Big Bear will once again be a stage finish for the Amgen Tour of California for Stage 6.  The route will take professional male cyclists from Palmdale to Big Bear with over 12,000 feet of climbing.  Riders are expected to finish in Big Bear between 2:30 and 3:30.

Big Bear Paddlefest

Big Bear PaddleFest is a festival of clinics and races for kayaks, canoes, and stand up paddleboards on Big Bear Lake, hosted by North Shore Trading Company. For two days in July, paddlers can test their stamina at 6700′, take beginner through advanced clinics, and learn about the latest in paddling gear from vendors and sponsors. With 5k, 10k, and around the lake 20k races, there’s an event for everyone.  And kids 5-12 race free.  To register or to get more information go to their website.

Odyssey of the Mind Teams Spaghetti Dinner Fundraiser

The Odyssey of the Mind teams will be having a fundraiser at Community Church by the Lake on March 1st, from 6:00pm to 8:00pm along with their competition.  Come watch all five teams from Big Bear present their skits before they compete in Palm Springs for the Regional Competition.  Donation is $10.00 for adults and $5.00 for kids.

Change Your Thinking, Change Your Health

The Bear Valley Center for Spiritual Enrichment will hold a workshop on March 10th from 10:00am to 2:00pm at 578 Bonanza Trail in Big Bear Lake.  Dr. Cal Pramann, and Dr. Linda Logan will provide a great opportunity for you to learn about how your body/ mind connection and how to change emotions that can cause disease and influence your immune system.   For more information call 909 366-0173.

Cross & Kids

Enjoy the talents of Jazz pianist Michael Cross as he plays music with talented strings students in the Big Bear Valley.  The event will take place on Saturday, March 3rd at 7:00pm at the Big Bear Lake Performing Arts Center.  Proceeds will benefit the BVUSD Elementary Strings Program and the Mihaylo Strings Program.

Solo & Ensemble Recital

There will be a Solo & Ensemble Recital on Sunday  March 18th for Strings Students in our Big Bear Valley at 4:00pm in Hofert Hall.  Proceeds from the recital will benefit the BVUSD Elementary Strings Program and the Mihaylo Strings Program.  To purchase tickets call the PAC at 866-4970.

Start Smart Class

The Start Smart program is class that helps young drivers and their parents understand the responsibilities associated with driving a motor vehicle.  The class will show how poor choices behind the wheel can change the lives of everyone involved.  The purpose of this program is to reduce the number of teen-related injuries and deaths due to collisions.  The class will take place on February 29, 2012 at 6:00 p.m., at the CHP, Arrowhead Office located at 31230 State Route 18 Running Springs, CA 92382.  There is no cost for attending the class.  Please RSVP with Officer Baker at (909) 867-2791 by February 24, 2012.
