The Big Bear High School Performing Arts Department is sponsoring a Valentine Sweetheart Dinner/Show. The event will be held on Friday, February 10th in the High School Cafeteria. Seating begins at 5:30pm, dinner at 6:00pm. Tickets are only $10.00 for adults and a special price of $5.00 for students and under. Tickets will be available at the door or you may call (909) 556-8756 to reserve your tickets at “Will Call”. Seating is limited and will be on a first come first seated basis.  Enjoy a “home cooked” spaghetti dinner while enjoying music provided by the Jazz Band, Concert Choir, and soloists Tashia Wormsbecker, Kari Pino, Kendra Petersen, Carolyn Soboslay, and Ariel Moreno. Val – O – Grams (singing telegrams) will be available to purchase at the door and will be delivered to guests during the evening by members of the Concert Choir.  Recipients receive a card, Lollipop and a song. All proceeds go to the students of the Big Bear High School Performing Arts.  The dinner includes; meat or vegetarian spaghetti, salad, garlic bread, punch or coffee and desert. First Baptist Church will once again have a quilt work party on Saturday,  February 11th.  The Church and volunteers are helping create quilts for boys and girls in Africa that live at the orphanages the church supports.  The quilt party will start at 9am and will end at noon.  The church is in need of sewing machines, seamstresses and anyone willing to help, and you dont need to know how to sew.  For more information call 866-3951.

The Cornerstone Christian Fellowship is hosting Family Fun Fellowship every 1st and 3rd Wednesday of the month.  Bring your family to a night where you can have fun and connect with your family around God’s word.  There will be dinner, teaching lessons, crafts or games that families can participate together in.  Family Fun Fellowship will take place from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at their location at 101 E. The Big Bear branch of the American Association of University Women (AAUW) will host a speech contest on Tuesday, February 28th at 6:00pm at the MWD Building.  The contest is open to all actively enrolled high school students in the valley and will be a 5 minute presentation on the topic “Bullying: So What?” Bearly Speaking Toastmasters is assisting with the contest, and encourages all interested parties to attend a meeting at the school on Tuesday, February 7th at 2:30pm.  Winners will recieve cash prizes and will be submitted to the state level for an opportunity to compete for an additional cash prize.  For more information contact Sara with AAUW at 909 544 1633, or Marlene Cain with Toastmasters at 909 866 2819.
