Big Bear Lake, CA, May 18, 2012 – Frenchman Sylvain Georges of AG2R La Mondiale won the climb to Big Bear of the 2012 Amgen Tour of California. Exhausted and completely rung out he crossed the finish line with the main field of riders closing in. Thousands of spectators watched cheered and rang their cow bells as Sylvian dug deep up Summit Boulevard to the finish arena. The Frenchman Sylvain nearly collapsed then sat on the pavement as his team mates and fellow riders came to congratulate him on his emotional and grueling stage win.

Stage Winner Sylvain Georges went on to say that this was the biggest win in his career. He felt strong early on in the stage and knew he had the legs to finish. Near the end he knew it was all or nothing so he gave it his all and came out victorious.

Peter Sagan

The 22 year old Slovakian Peter Sagan who won the 2010 Climb to Big Bear was still a crowd pleaser as after the race his fans swamped him for photos and autographs.

The tour moves on to Ontario for the Mount Baldy climb on Saturday then Beverly hills to down town Los Angeles on Sunday.

Big Bear Lake, CA, April 23, 2012, 3:00pm - The Big Bear Lake Resort Association is rolling out the red carpet for cycling fans at this year’s Amgen Tour of California Stage 6 Finish with V.I.P. Finish Line Experience Packages. The packages come with overnight accommodations at a Big Bear lodge, hotel or cabin bundled together with V.I.P. tent access right next to the finish line that includes complimentary appetizers and refreshments, a cash bar, commemorative cow bells and free bike valet service. USARC Ski-A-Thon

The Holcomb Valley Trail Run was established by Gary & Pam Kalina in 1997. Gary was an avid runner; he realized that some of the best trail running in Southern California was right here in Big Bear. And some of the best trail running in Big Bear was on the Pacific Crest Trail. The Holcomb Valley trail run will take place on June 10th, and will consist of a 7 mile, 15 mile, and 33 mile trail runs.
