New Wine Bar in the Village OK’d by City Council

Big Bear Lake, CA, July 15, 2016 – On July 11, the Big Bear Lake City Council approved a new wine room and restaurant at 560 Pine Knot Avenue in the Village. The facility for Dave Stone’s latest venture, called the Black Kat, was approved through a plot plan review by the Big Bear Lake Planning Commission in May. That decision was appealed to the council by Bill Young, a lodge owner on the north side of the new facility. Adult Learning and Referral Center Closing It’s Doors

Big Bear Lake, CA, July 14, 2016 – The Adult Learning and Referral Center, located at Community Church Big Bear, opened it’s doors in October of 2015. The program was sponsored by the Big Bear Hummingbird Project, a nonprofit 501(c) 3. They also received a $5,000.00 grant provided by Third District Supervisor James Ramos to help provide free classes such as GED, English as a Second Language and provide class scholarships to low income adults for job training classes. Big Bear Lake, CA, July 6, 2016 – Victoria Park Carriages, a horse-drawn carriage operation owned and operated by Mr. Michael Homan, had been requesting a Horse-Drawn Vehicle Permit to place a horse-drawn vehicle stand in the public right-of-way on the north side of Pedder Road, adjacent to the Teddy Bear Restaurant parking lot. Caltrans To Begin Repair Work on the Boulevard

Big Bear Lake, CA, July 5, 2016 – The California Department of Transportation has awarded a $3.1 million project to STL Incorporated that will repair and replace damaged sidewalks, curbs, and gutters, including three traffic signals at various locations along State Route 18, or Big Bear Blvd., in Big Bear Lake from Pine Knot Avenue to Stanfield Cut-off. The sidewalks, curbs, and gutters are damaged from years of snow removal and base failure. The sidewalk and traffic signals are required to be upgraded to Americans with Disabilities Act standards.
