Big Bear, CA – Mary Bartholomew and Jon Turner were reported as missing persons out of New York on August 25, 2017. On September 11, California Highway Patrol officers located the vehicle Mary and Jon were reportedly driving in a turnout on Highway 38 in Fawnskin, California. The vehicle was unoccupied. The Big Bear Sheriff’s Station is requesting public assistance in locating these missing persons who may be in the Big Bear area. Bomb Threat at Baldwin Lane Elementary School

Sugarloaf, CA – On Tuesday, May 23, at 2:18 p.m., deputies from the Big Bear Sheriff’s Station responded to a reported bomb threat at Baldwin Lane Elementary School in Sugarloaf. School officials advised Sheriff’s Dispatch that they received a call at approximately 2:10 p.m. from what sounded like a male subject trying to disguise his voice, saying that bombs had been planted in classrooms. Classes were in session at the time the threat was made, and school officials worked quickly to evacuate approximately 400 students and faculty members to the parking lot and outlying playground. Multiple patrol units responded to the call for service and deputies worked as a team to conduct a systematic and thorough search of the inside and outside of the school. At approximately 3:20 p.m. a sweep of the entire premises was concluded, and deputies found no suspicious persons or packages at the school. Victims of Grand Theft During the Bluecut Fire Ask for the Public’s Assistance

Big Bear, CA, September 8, 2016 – On August 17, 2016, Michael and Crystal Armstrong were contacted by deputies from the Central Patrol Station and instructed to evacuate their property due to the approaching Blue Cut fire. The fire at that time was not contained and was posing a direct threat to them. The victims adhered to the recommendation of the deputies and evacuated from their home for their safety. Arson Registrant Arrested Near Blue Cut Fire

The officer contacted the subject, later identified as Larry Missirilian, and discovered he was on active parole and was an arson registrant. The officer notified the sheriff’s department and Deputy Sandoval from the Central Station responded to assist. Big Bear, CA, August 26, 2016 – The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department has received reports from residents of a man calling claiming to represent CALFIRE. The caller is asking residents for donations to assist persons displaced by the recent Blue Cut Fire.
