Education Trust Fundraiser At Club Bombay

Big Bear, Ca, February 7, 2012, 12:00pm – The Big Bear Valley Education Trust is holding a fundraiser at Club Bombay on Wednesday, February 8th from 6:30 to 9:00pm. The Education Trust formed in 2009, when a group of concerned citizens decided to explore ways to support out local schools.  Since then the Education Trust has helped bring 25 volunteers into classrooms to aid teachers, speakers have visited and talked with high school students about different career paths, and currently 25-30 teachers are going through GATE Training, which stands for Gifted and Talented Education.  The Education Trust is funding the fees for the teachers to attend the classes that will expose teachers to different methods of working and teaching young people, by presenting material in a different way to make it more appealing, exciting, and engaging to students.  The fundraiser at Club Bombay will help fund the classes, as well as support other programs of the Education Trust.  Attendees will receive a complimentary 2012 membership to Friends of the Big Bear Valley Education Trust along with the ticket...

National Forest Association Restoration Team Seeks Volunteers

San Bernardino, CA, November 7, 2011, 8:00am –  The National Forest Association is launching an aggressive call out for volunteers to assist with the Great Seeds Restoration program through a schedule of restoration days through next March. Individuals, families and small groups are needed to get outside, pitch in and help restore the forest through a schedule of monthly volunteer days at the Lytle Creek nursery and other designated sites. Volunteers will meet in San Bernardino and caravan to the project site. Each session wraps up no later than 3:00pm. All tools, orientation, and training will be provided. However, volunteers should bring their own lunch, water, hat, sunscreen, and gloves. Additional and customized opportunities exist for corporate team building events and community and youth groups who want to get involved and donate their service. Friends Of The Moonridge Zoo Docent Program Expands

Big Bear Lake, CA, August 15,2011, 8:00am – The Friends of the Moonridge Zoo is looking for volunteers who appreciate being around wildlife to become Docents at Big Bear’s animal park. The docent educational program is expanding and will now offer monthly one day comprehensive workshops, where you can become a docent and help support the Moonridge Animal Park. Docent’s assist and provide information to park visitors, they provide help during special events, prepare food in the animal kitchen, work at the gift shop or snack bar, or help with flower gardening or light maintenance.
