CATS & Class Act Kidz Present A Musical Theater Day Camp

Big Bear Lake, CA, September 9, 2012 — The Community Arts Theater Society (CATS), in association with Class Act Kidz, will offer a musical theatre day camp for kids  during the fall school break.  Camp will be held Monday through Friday, October 8 through October 12 from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM each day.  Students will learn every aspect of putting on a show, including costuming and set design, and will perform the mini-musical Peter Pan, at the close of the session in a special performance for invited family & friends. Camp will be held onstage in the new CATS Warehouse Theater in Big Bear City.  There is also an opportunity for kids to be included in the CATS production of Oliver!  The charge for camp is $149 for the week, and some scholarships may be available. Camp directors and staff include accomplished CATS and AMDA instructors.   The Class Act Kidz Foundation, which is based in Calimesa, is produced by Jennifer Gail and David Castagner.  Gail is well known in Big Bear for her starring appearances in CATS in The Fantasticks, The Sound of Music and most recently as Eliza in My Fair Lady.  She is a graduate of The American Musical and Dramatic Academy of New York and Hollywood.   Gail will also be available for private vocal coaching and song presentation.  For Camp information and reservations, call 951-442-6335 or register...

Grand Opening of New CATS Warehouse Theater and 2012 Season Performances

Big Bear City, CA, March 21, 2012, 1:00pm – The Community Arts Theater Society of Big Bear Valley, known as CATS, will present an original variety show, “BEARLY BROADWAY” written by Robin Field and Karen Sargent Rachels to commemorate the opening their 2012 season beginning on Friday, March 23rd through April 1st for seven performances.  The show will also be the Grand Opening of the new CATS Warehouse Theater, which caps six years of planning and building by the all-volunteer theatrical organization.  “BEARLY BROADWAY” will be the first theatrical event presented in the new facility on the new stage.  Karen Sargent Rachels, producer for CATS is quoted as saying “It’s really hard to believe that we survived the last six years and actually built a theater …. from scratch!  We didn’t remodel an old church… or an old movie theater.  We built a whole new one!  And we fulfilled our dream not only of having our own theater… but also having a place for us to build our sets and store our costumes! Robin Fields concert and show for CATS

Big Bear, Ca, March 20, 2011, 3:00pm – Next weekend, CATS, the Community Arts Theater Society of Big Bear will present a special three-day show.  With elements of vaudeville, jazz, classical music, and comedic impersonations, “A Musical-Comedy Life” is entertainer Robin Field’s original 2-act concert highlighting his 60-year career in show business and presenting many of Big Bear’s most talented singers, actors, and dancers.  Mr. Field retired to Big Bear following his theatrical career in New York.  He recently displayed his talent in the CATS production of “The Music Man” and as Scrooge in their original adaptation of “A Christmas Carol”.  “A Musical-Comedy Life” will allow Fields to share his experience as a pianist, singer, actor, and mime for the Big Bear audiences.    “My life is definitely like a musical comedy” says Field.  “It’s loaded with all the clichés [and] It’s all true.”  With only three performances, “A Musical-Comedy Life” will be at the Big Bear Lake Performing Arts Center on Friday and Saturday, March 25 and 26 at 7:30 pm, and March 27 at 1:30 pm.  Tickets are available at bigbeartheater.org or by calling 909-866-4970.
