Big Bear Lake, CA, December 18, 2013 – In what’s becoming a favorite local tradition, the Big Bear Theater Project is presenting its hilarious version of a Dickens classic. “A Christmas Carol Askew…Redo!” opens Thursday night for a four-show run at the Big Bear Lake Performing Arts Center (PAC). The production is another Panto, which is an interactive style of theater that lets audiences join in the fun. Robin Hood Gives to the Mountains Foundation

Fawnskin, CA, July 31, 2013 – After a strong opening weekend, men in tights return to the Discovery Center Amphitheater for “Robin Hood … the Panto.” The panto form of theatre is popular in England and is a lot of interactive fun here too: You’ll cheer the heroes and boo the villains, amid chases, songs and sword fights. The Big Bear Theatre Project is presenting the familiar story, but with a twist. Robin and his Merry Men still steal from the rich and give to the poor, but Steve Cassling and Brian Adams play all the characters, and may even pull audience members to the stage to become a part of the action. They’ll battle against the Sheriff of Nottingham and the evil Prince John while waiting for the good King Richard to return.  The show is directed by Cassling, who staged it as the Pasadena Playhouse’s holiday show for two years in a row. Cassling updated it for Big Bear in 2008, where it played along with his two-man version of “The Wizard of Oz” for the Community Arts Theatre Society. He promises audiences, “You’ll share in their adventures, meeting Little John, Maid Marion, and all the men of Sherwood Forest…. Local Actor Joins KBHR Staff

 Big Bear Lake, CA, July 2, 2013 – KBHR welcomes local actor and business owner Steve Cassling as morning announcer on 93.3FM; his on-air debut was July 1. Steve has been acting professionally for almost three decades. After studying Theatre Performance at Boston University, he joined the acting company of the Tony award-winning Alley Theatre in Houston, Texas, appearing in dozens of productions, from “Cyrano de Bergerac” to “The Sound of Music.”  He then spent twenty years in Los Angeles working in television commercials and shows such as “General Hospital,” “The Young & The Restless,” “The Bold and the Beautiful,” “Murphy Brown,” “Murder, She Wrote” and “The Facts of Life.”  He also appeared in several films, including the horror classics A Nightmare on Elm Street and Re-animator. Steve is no stranger to voice work, either. He sang on the soundtracks for X-Men 2 and Dudley Do-Right, and his voiceovers can be heard in numerous Anime series: Giant Robo, Ghost in the Shell, Bleach, Super Pig, Ambassador Magma, and Love Hina, to name a few, as well as a number of  PlayStation and X-Box games. In addition, he sings with the local a capella group Simply Voices. Christmas In The Village

Big Bear Lake, CA, November 23, 2012, 8am – The official Tree Lighting Ceremony & Santa’s Grand Entrance will take place in the Village today. Entertainment begins at 5pm. Steve Cassling will be the Master of Ceremonies this year, and Charles Dickens Carolers will be performing, as well as five local high school students, part of Mountain Top Strings. Miss Big Bear and her court, and the high school cheerleading team will also be there.
