Full Closures on Arctic Circle to Begin Monday October 3rd

Big Bear, CA, September 9, 2016 – The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) District 8, will close State Route 18 in the “Arctic Circle” Monday through Friday, October 3, to October 27, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. No closures are scheduled for Friday, October 14. The closure limits are between Snow Valley Mountain Resort and Big Bear Dam. More Roadwork on the Front Grade

Big Bear, CA, September 23, 2016 – The California Department of Transportation District 8 is set to begin the paving project on State Route 18 on Monday, September 26.  The $2.3 million contract was awarded to All American Asphalt and will provide a pavement overlay from Running Springs to just south of Lake View Point. The work hours are Monday through Thursday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. with no work on Fridays.  Traffic control, or flagging, will be necessary during the work hours. SR 18 Median Project Set To Begin

Big Bear, CA, April, 6, 2016 – The California Department of Transportation plans to begin work on April 11 to install a ‘thrie beam guardrail’ for the State Route 18 Median Project between Sierra Way, at the base of the mountain, and State Route 138, also known as Crestline Cutoff. The project was put into motion when a higher than average number of cross over collisions occurred on this section of the route. Full Closure of Highway 18 Coming Next Week

Big Bear, CA, October 3, 2014 – Caltrans announced a full road closure of SR-18 between the Big Bear Dam and Snow Valley beginning on Monday October 6 and running through Thursday October 30. The closures will take place Monday through Thursday from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. There will be no Friday closures. Caltrans needs the time for cleaning tree cut areas and removing slide material from previous weather events. Alternate routes are SR-18 to Lucerne and SR-38 to Mentone.
