CHP Offers Start Smart Class

Sacramento, CA, January 9, 2012 – Traffic collisions are the leading cause of death among teenagers across the United States and in California.  Each year, thousands of young drivers and their passengers are killed in collisions. Designed for newly licensed teens and their parents, the CHP offers Start Smart, a two-hour driver safety education class that is conducted throughout the state.  The free program is an interactive driver safety class for teens and their parents.  During the course, officers and speakers illustrate the critical responsibilities of safe driving and collision avoidance techniques.  Parents are also reminded of their responsibility to teach their new driver and model good driving behavior.  Parents and teenagers can sign up for a Start Smart class by contacting their local CHP office. Start Smart Program Helps Young Motorists

Running Springs, CA, April 21, 2011, noon – The leading cause of death for Americans between 15 and 20 years old is motor vehicle collision.  The Start Smart program is a cooperative effort between the CHP, teenagers, and their parents/guardians.  The goal of the class is to help young drivers and their parents understand the responsibilities associated with driving a motor vehicle.  The class will also show how poor choices behind the wheel can change the lives of everyone involved.  The purpose of this program is to reduce the number of teen-related injuries and deaths due to collisions. On Wednesday April 27, 2011 at 6:00 p.m., the California Highway Patrol (CHP) will be presenting a Start Smart Class at the CHP, Arrowhead Office located at 31230 State Route 18 Running Springs, CA 92382.
