5th Memorial Run For Freedom Takes Place Saturday

Big Bear, Ca, September 19, 2011, 1:00pm – The 5th Annual First Lt. Jared M. Landaker Memorial Run for Freedom will be held at Snow Summit  this Saturday, September 24th. There is a 5k, 10k, and 15K Run/Walk, with a 1 mile Family Fun Walk, and is an event for all ages and levels of activity. The opening ceremony will start 8:45am with the Marine Corps League Color Guard leading the flag salute, along with a releasing of doves.  It is an emotional but patriotic event and it is a fun way to show your support for our military and their families. All proceeds raised go to the Seven Stars Foundation, Inc., a non-profit organization, which provides financial and emotional assistance to those who have and are serving our nation. The Seven Stars Foundation also provides local high school scholarships and meals at the Barnstorm Cafe for all military personnel who fly in on training missions. Many of those aviators are now serving in Iraq and Afghanistan. The Seven Stars Foundation began when the seven crew members of a US Marine Corps CH-46 Casevac helicopter was shot down in Iraq on Feb. 7th, 2007 on their last mission. Seven Stars Foundation Competing For $25,000 From The Home Depot Foundation

Big Bear City, CA, September 15, 2011, noon – The Seven Stars Foundation in Big Bear City has been selected as a finalist for Aprons in Action, The Home Depot Foundation’s unique Facebook voting program, and now has the opportunity to win a $25,000 gift card from The Home Depot, and your vote counts! The organization with the most votes will win the $25,000 prize, and be in the running for the grand prize of $250,000 at the end of the year-long program. The Seven Stars Foundation was established in 2007 and named for the seven crew members who were shot down and killed in Iraq. The Seven Stars Foundation makes a positive impact the lives of military personnel and their families through financial, emotional, and educational assistance.
