Big Bear Kicks Off the Holidays with Christmas Tree Lightings and Santa

Big Bear, Ca, November 27, 2015 – Now that the Thanksgiving turkey has been eaten, it’s time to ring in Christmas in Big Bear. Tonight, in the heart of the village, you can join 6000 locals and visitors for the annual Village Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony and Santa’s Grand Entrance. Festivities begin at 5:00 pm with entertainment provided by Big Bear’s own Mountain Marvelettes and wandering carolers, The Voices of Christmas. Mayor David Caretto, Supervisor James Ramos, and Assemblyman Jay Obernolte will lead the countdown to officially light the tree. Once the tree is lit, Santa and Mrs. Claus will ride up Pine Knot in an antique fire engine greeting everyone before making their way to the Santa House where they will see children until 9:00 pm. On Saturday night, the Big Bear Fire Department hosts their annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony. The party starts at 5:00 at the fire station in Big Bear City, with caroling, hot chocolate, cider, coffee, and activities for the kids. Families are asked to bring a plate of cookies to share. Rotary Club of Big Bear Lake Brings Christmas Cheer with Home Santa Visits in December

Big Bear, CA, November 22, 2015 – Rotary Club of Big Bear Lake Brings Christmas Cheer with Santa Visits in December.  The Santa visit program will be providing Valley youngsters a treat that they won’t soon forget. The visits this year will take place on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, December 17th, 18th, and 19th, 2015.  Santa will visit any child in the Big Bear Valley, bringing age appropriate gifts to each child in the family.  All families, both local and visitor, are invited to call for a Santa visit.  This is a free service provided through the generosity of Rotary Club members, who travel with Santa as his helpers around the entire valley. Santa visits are made in the evening hours on the specified dates, and children will be surprised as they hear the familiar “Ho, Ho, Ho” and the jingle of bells coming up the walk.  Santa will shout out the name of each child as he enters the home and presents each of them with a stocking filled with toys.  Don’t miss out!! Christmas Kicks Off With Tree Lighting Ceremonies

Big Bear Lake, CA, November 29 – With Thanksgiving leftovers still in the fridge, Big Bear is ushering in Christmas! It begins tonight in the Village, with KBHR’s Steve Cassling emceeing the Official Tree Lighting Ceremony and Santa’s Grand Entrance. The Wonderelles Rockin’ Christmas Revue will warm up the crowd between 5:00 and 6:00 p.m. with a mix of traditional seasonal favorites and classic music from the 50s & 60s. The female quartet will be on the outdoor stage at the corner of Pine Knot Ave. and Village Drive. After the show, Big Bear Lake Mayor Jay Obernolte will lead the countdown to the lighting of the Christmas tree. The Fire Department will then escort in MARTA’s Weekend Trolley carrying Santa and Mrs. Claus, who will take the stage to wave to kids, before greeting visitors personally at the Santa House until 9 p.m. After that, the Clauses will be available for children to visit every Saturday and Sunday leading up to Christmas, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Plentiful public parking can be found at the Bartlett Public Lot behind the Visitors Center or the Indian Village Lot on the south side of Village Drive. Rotary Santas to Brighten the Nights of Children

Big Bear Lake, CA, December 17, 2012 – For over three decades, the Rotary Club has been providing free Santa visits to over 1,000 Big Bear Valley children each year.  The visits this year will take place on the evenings of December 20th, 21st, and 22nd. Santa will arrive with a jingle of bells, shout out the name of each child and present age appropriate gifts. Any child, both local and visitor, is eligible for a visit as long as reservations are made by the week of December 20th. Donations are not required, but they are gladly accepted when possible, to help fund gifts of food and toys for those most in need.
