LAUSD Schools Closed Due to Credible Threat

Big Bear, CA, December 15, 2015 – All schools in the Los Angeles Unified School District are closed today due to the receipt of a “credible threat of violence.” Bear Valley Unified School District wants to assure everyone that they are following ongoing reports on this situation and will keep us informed of any circumstance that may affect students in the Big Bear Valley. Additionally, San Bernardino Valley College remains closed today due to the receipt of a credible threat on Monday, but has been cleared to reopen Wednesday, December 16, after a thorough search of the campus. BVUSD is in contact with the San Bernardino County Superintendent of Schools and will keep us apprised of any information pertinent to all of us in Big Bear Valley. The County Superintendent of Schools reports “in San Bernardino County, no K-12 school districts have reported being closed this morning.” Tiffany Swantek of the Big Bear Sheriff’s Department offered the following information: In Big Bear, at this time, we have had no indication or any reports of any threats to the Big Bear Valley. Fall College Classes Start Next Week

San Bernardino County, CA, August 14, 2013 — Fall semester starts August 19 in the San Bernardino Community College District (SBCCD), and registration has begun. Both schools in the district have expanded class offerings that accept enrollment online or in person. And besides traditional courses on campus at San Bernardino Valley College and Crafton Hills College, students can also attend satellite classes at Big Bear High School (see the full list here). SBCCD Chancellor Bruce Baron said, “We are looking forward to the start of the Fall 2013 semester. The faculty, staff and administrators are very happy to have space for additional students in our expanded schedules. In addition to offering new classes and programs, we have been able to add additional sections to some of our most in-demand courses. But, I would remind everyone- classes fill up fast, so don’t delay. Go online and register as soon as possible.” Community colleges are available to assist whether a student wants to complete their first two years of college for an associate degree, transfer to a four-year college or to get job training for a new career, career advancement or a career change.
