BVUSD Girl’s Choir Sweeps Show Choir Competition

Big Bear, CA, March 12, 2015 – Altitude Adrenaline, formerly the Aquila Ensemble, is an after school competition show choir sponsored by Bear Valley Unified School District. It is open to girls grades four through eight from the three elementary schools and Big Bear Middle School. On Friday, March 6, Altitude Adrenaline swept the Cypress Star Reflections show choir competition. They placed first in the Novice Middle School division and won both the Outstanding Musicianship and Outstanding Showmanship awards, receiving the highest scores among three other middle school and thirteen high school show choirs. Middle school student Addyson Contreras received an award as Outstanding Performer. Their competition program for this year is entitled “Girl Power”, and along with songs like “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun” and “We Are Family”, features an original number written by choir director Robin O’Hare as well as a dance duet choreographed by Cathy Winch to “Let It Go”. North Shore Elementary School Music Program Is “Celebrating Music”

Big Bear Lake, CA, November 17, 2011, noon – The North Shore Elementary School music program will kick off the performance season with a special concert featuring the Aquila Ensemble and the vocal students from the studio of Diane Sloan. The concert will feature a complimentary dessert bar during intermission and will be held this Saturday, November 19th beginning at 7:00pm in North Shore’s Multipurpose Room. Tickets are $5 each and can be purchased at the door. This years Aquila Ensemble is comprised of eighteen students led by director Robin O’Hare and two student interns from Big Bear High School. All proceeds from the concert will go to the music program at North Shore Elementary School, which is entirely funded by private donations. Robin O’Hare Presented With San Bernardino County Distinguished Service Award

Big Bear, Ca, April 26, 2011, 12:00pm –Robin O’Hare, special education teacher and Director of the Visual and Performing Arts program at Northshore Elementary School was presented with the San Bernardino County Distinguished Service Award on April 25th.  O’Hare and one other educator received this prestigious award in San Bernardino County.  The award, which was established in 1998, celebrated exceptional and distinguished service sustained over many years.  According to the San Bernardino County Superintendent of Schools office, the purpose of the award is to recognize dedication and leadership on behalf of public education in San Bernardino County. O’Hare, who has been teaching at Northshore for the past 10 years, came from the Bakersfield area.  “I am immensely humbled,” said O’Hare, “I feel like I am receiving this award for everyone at Northshore.”  O’Hare who heads the Visual and Performing Arts program at Northshore invited everyone to come and see the latest production, a 1940’s spy spoof, called “Kilroy Was Here.”  Showings will take place on Thursday and Friday, with morning and evening performances.  O’Hare also told KBHR “as a teacher you never expect it, but someone thought I had this impact on education.”  O’Hare was very thankful for the nomination and humbled by receiving the award.  KBHR congratulates Robin O’Hare on her outstanding dedication to teaching, and to the visual and performing arts!
