Redlands, CA, April 8, 2016 – The 32nd Annual Redlands Bicycle Classic began 4 days of world class cycling action on a steamy hot day in Highland, California on Wednesday, April 6. The Classic, presented by San Manuel Band of Mission Indians, got rolling on a tight circuit with a nasty sting. The 2.8 mile course began with a neutral start but quickly hit the first of many climbs up a 10 percent grade. The women had 14 laps, and the men 20 laps to complete on the technical course. New Festival Secures Big Bear Lake Status as Cycling Mecca

Big Bear Lake, CA, June 18, 2014 – The Big Bear Cycling Association (BBCA) has announced the inaugural Big Bear Cycling Festival, running July 26 through August 3, 2014. The festival will celebrate all riding levels and disciplines–whether road, mountain or recreational. BBCA President Craig Smith points out the uniqueness of this kind of event in the U.S.:  “There is no other festival or event that positions itself as celebrating all types of cyclists and provides nine days of competitive races, long-distance rides and family-oriented opportunities.” Two race events will open and close the Big Bear Cycling Festival with a splash: the Big Bear MTB Gran Fondo & Grizzly 100 on July 25 and Tour de Big Bear on August 2. Tour de Big Bear is an organized and supported road ride that for the 5th year will provide more than 2000 cyclists the option to ride 25, 50, 70 or 100 mile distances in and around the Big Bear Lake valley. The Big Bear MTB Gran Fondo & Grizzly 100 will offer four supported distances, including the 100K, 70K, 30K and a lift-served 20K recreational mountain bike–all over a combination of Forest Service fire road and single track. Road Reminder: Partial Closure Scheduled Thursday

Fawnskin, CA, April 2, 2014 – Big Bear Cycling is hosting the Big Bear Time Trial of the 30th Redlands Bicycle Classic, the season opening event for the National Race Calendar and the United States domestic road cycling racing season. The organization is grateful for the community’s cooperation in the support of professional cycling. Highway 38/North Shore Drive will be CLOSED to vehicles on Thursday, April 3, from 8 a.m. – 4 p.m., between Stanfield Cutoff to the Fawnskin downtown triangle. The road will be OPEN to motorists between Stanfield Cutoff and Division, but from 9:00am–noon, but the southeast-bound lane will be crowded with riders warming up for the races. The East Boat Ramp will be completely closed for boat launching on Thursday, but as a consolation prize, free launching will be offered at Big Bear Marina for this day only. Spectators are welcome to park in the North Shore Elementary School parking lot, cross at the crosswalk, and walk to the race area via the Alpine Pedal Path. Big Bear Time Trial Kicks Off USA Cycling Racing Calendar

Big Bear Lake, CA, February 19, 2014 – For the past 30 years, volunteers have come together to put on the annual Redlands Bicycle Classic, hosting thousands of people from around the world. Now, the event committee is ushering in a new era. For the second year, the San Manuel Band of Mission Indians will act as Presenting Sponsor for the annual competition, expanding the festivities in 2014 with a new race stage in Highland, a school outreach program to promote healthy lifestyles and a Saturday evening family concert. Redlands Bicycle Classic President Bob Peppler said, “It is an honor to have a presenting sponsor with a history that is deeply rooted in the region, and one who shares the vision of promoting a healthy lifestyle, especially for our youth. Fawnskin, CA, April 3, 2013 – Highway 38, North Shore Drive, will be closed from Stanfield Cutoff west to the Fawnskin triangle on Thursday, April 4, 8:00AM – 4:00PM for the Big Bear Time Trial of the 29th Annual Redlands Bicycle Classic. Please also be aware of heavy bicycle traffic on the southbound lane of North Shore Drive between Stanfield Cutoff and Division from 9:00AM– 12:00PM, although this portion of the road will be open, professional riders will be warming up for the races.
