Dogs From Hoarding Case Available Now at Weekend Adoption Event

Devore, CA, July 12, 2014 – On July 2, San Bernardino County Animal Care and Control rescued dozens of dogs from a neglectful hoarding situation near Phelan. They transported them to a veterinarian for examination and care for at the County’s Animal Shelter in Devore. Some of the dogs had such severely matted hair, it was hard to distinguish the front of the dog from the rear. Shelter staff and groomers from Cutie Pie’s Grooming in Redlands spent the Fourth of July giving makeovers to the dogs. The pictures posted here show one dog’s two-hour transformation. These 38 dogs are now ready for loving, attentive families, and the public is invited to a special adoption event this weekend at the Devore Animal Shelter near Cal State San Bernardino. The hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, July 12 and Sunday, July 13. Thanks to the Animals aRe First Fund (ARFF), which contributes to the shelter’s adoption events and the care of animals at the shelter, adoption fees are just $25 per dog. That includes micro-chipping, initial vaccination and the spaying or neutering of each of the dogs surrendered by the dog hoarder. The license fee will vary depending on the adopter’s city of residence and there is a limit of two dogs per family. Brian Cronin, Chief for Animal Care and Control, said, “These dogs have been through so...
