Night on the Town Will Benefit Young Entrepreneurs

Big Bear Lake, CA, January 30, 2014 – The Big Bear Chamber of Commerce has scheduled their 5th Annual Gala, and announced its theme. “Denim & Diamonds” will be held at the Northwoods Resort on March 8th, from 5:00 p.m. – 11:00 p.m., featuring country singer Brent Payne, old-time photography by Millener Productions and dinner. Because this is the organization’s major fundraising event, they are soliciting donations for a variety of auctions and raffles that will add fun to the evening. The financial support will help the Chamber continue for the second year business education for local youth. The free program was offered to high school students in its pilot year, designed to help them develop skills to “think outside the box” in creating their own businesses. Chamber Executive Director Pam Scannell says they would like to extend this training to students at Big Bear Middle School too. Pam Scannell Takes the Reins

Big Bear Lake, CA, November 21, 2013 – There was a seamless transition in leadership over the weekend at the Big Bear Chamber of Commerce. Rachel Wade served her last day as Executive Director on Friday, November 15, and former Operations Manager Pam Scannell took over the next day. Wade, who resigned from the Chamber to work from home, said, “I couldn’t ask for a better person to fill the Executive Director position.” Scannell moved to Big Bear in 2006, joined the Chamber in 2009 as Membership Sales and Development Coordinator and was promoted to Operations Manager in 2012. Scannell’s resume boasts 14 years in retail management, including time living in England working for leading UK retailer John Lewis. After guiding her unit there from loss to profit in nine months, she earned a series of promotions at the company, peaking as Branch Audit Manager.
