Big Bear Lake Song Festival Offers Three Free Recitals

Big Bear, Ca, June 8, 2011, 1:00pm – This week talented college students from across America have been taking part in the Big Bear Lake Song Festival.  In its 3rd year, the song festival brings students and high-level instructors from institutions such as the University of the Pacific, University of Nevada, Las Vegas, the Boston Conservatory and even an instructor from China.  The program was created by local’s Dr. Tod Fitzpatrick, and his wife Elaine Fitzpatrick.  Dr. Tod is an instructor at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, and wanted to bring talented young people to Big Bear for an intense weeklong educational experience and mentoring opportunity.  The Big Bear Lake Song Festival will be offering three free song recitals featuring the highly talented instructors.  The first recital will be tonight and will feature four distinguished faculty artists at 7pm at the Knickerbocker Mansion.  The second recital will also be at the Knickerbocker Mansion tomorrow night at 7 p.m. and will feature festival participants in a lighter evening of musical theater and operetta selections. Music at The Mansion Moves Inside This Time Around

Big Bear, Ca, May 18, 2011, 12:00pm – The Arts Council of Big Bear Valley has announced their Sunday afternoon series “Music at the Mansion” will start this Sunday, May 22nd.  The program was originally going to be held outside at the Knickerbocker Mansion under a white tent, however, due to expected cold temperatures, the venue for this Sunday’s event has been changed to Community Church by the Lake.  Pianist Barbara King invites everyone to come out and “enjoy some amazing local talent,” which includes Kim Boda, John Grandi, Michael McConnell, Elena Peavy, Nancy Walker, Mike Cross, Peggy Baldwin, Sharon Rizzo, and Barbara King.  Throughout the summer there will be four other performances at the Mansion including performers from the 3rd Annual Big Bear Song Festival June 7th through the 11th, Wake the Bard, a Celtic Band on July 10th, Big Bear alumni musical talent comes home to sing and perform on August 14th, with the final Music at the Mansion on September 18th.  The cost is $20 for adults, and $10 for students and children.  For more information call the Arts Council at...
