Big Bear, Ca March 26, 2011 3:00 pm – In April 2 years ago, the Moonridge Animal Park welcomed 9 new babies.  Five male and 4 female wolf pups were born to parents Navarre and Wakiza at Big Bear’s zoo.  In celebration of the wolves’ birthday, the Animal Park will be having a party on Saturday, April 9, from 11:00 am until 2:00 pm.  Gift boxes for the pups will be available for purchase near the Wolf Enclosure.  Filled with goodies for the wolf teenagers, the Zoo staff will toss the boxes into the enclosure.  Visitors may watch the wolves open their gifts and enjoy the treats.  Guests who would like to donate treats are asked to bring unopened packages of their favorite:  Pup-peroni flavored dog treats.  In wolf-years, the pups are about 14 years old.  Similar to 14 year old humans, they exhibit playfulness and youthful curiosity, as well as the beginnings of working out in the pack who will be alpha male and female.  Docents will be available during the wolves birthday party to share details about the pups life at the park.  The Moonridge Animal Park is located across from the Bear Mountain Ski Resort on Goldmine Drive.  Call 909-878-4200 for additional information, or visit their website at moonridgezoo.org.
